Week 1 NCFI

Thank God for the members of all National Nurses Christian Fellowships (NNCF’s) around the world and their commitment to the work of Christian nursing around the world.

Thank God for the members of the NCFI International Board and their work within and for the six worldwide NCFI regions.

Thank God for Barbara White, NCFI President, and Tove Giske, Vice President, as they provide leadership for the NCFI organization. Thank God for David Parfitt, NCFI administrator, as he manages the daily operations of NCFI.

Thank God for the NCF members participating in the NCFI Leadership Development programme. Pray that Sue Allen and Viki Vowell, who are the programme writers, may be given the Creativity, Wisdom, and Strength needed for this task.

Verse of the week: James 1.21 In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life.

Week 2 CARIBBEAN and NORTH AMERICA (CANA) REGION

Thank God for the NCF leadership in USA and Canada. Pray for grace and wisdom for USA Interim Director, Jane Hall, as she assumes this new role. Pray for Canada’s NCF leadership, Judith Fanaken and Fronica Yiu as they learn and share all that it necessary to chart a new course for NCF Canada

Pray that the CANA sub-committee, co-led by Jane Pfeiffer and Leslie Van Dover, may be given wisdom and creative ways to make meaningful connection with Caribbean nurses for the purpose of mutual support and fellowship in the faith of our Lord.

Thank God and pray for the ongoing NCF ministry of the Journal Of Christian Nursing that God will continue to bless the written word as it reaches beyond the borders of the country and NCF members. Pray that the journal will be a source of encouragement to God’s family of healthcare professionals and a magnet of interest to those seeking answers to Life’s Big Questions.

Thank God for the inspiring leadership of and the challenging messages heard at the Urbana 09 Student Missionary Conference at the end of December. Pray for those who made commitments—to Christ for the first time, to Christ in recommitment, and to missions—that the Lord will enable each to be ever mindful of Christ’s Presence.

Verse of the week Psalm 90.17a And let the loveliness of our Lord, our God, rest on us, confirming the work that we do.

Week 3 CARIBBEAN and NORTH AMERICA (CANA) REGION

Thank God and pray for the ongoing ministry of the Monday prayer list in Canada. Pray for its leadership and thank God for the encouragement of knowing God’s care and grace as we see answers to prayer.

Pray for the regional Christian nursing workshops and conferences, that they may be venues of spiritual encouragement and challenge with enduring effects in effective Christian witness

Verse of the week Psalm 116.12-14 What can I give back to God for the blessings he’s poured out on me?I’ll lift high the cup of salvation—a toast to God! I'll pray in the name of God; I'll complete what I promised God Id do, and I'll do it together with his people.

Week 4 EUROPE REGION

Thank God for the national leadership committees in each of the NCFI member countries: Denmark, England and Wales, Finland, Norway, Scotland, and Spain. Pray for their continued trust in you for direction in their national fellowships and in their vision of NCF beyond their borders. Pray for new board members, nurses and students.

Pray for Christian nurses in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Iceland, the Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Turkmenistan, and the Ukraine, that NCF groups can be started and/or strengthened there.

Pray for wisdom about ways and means to make contact with Christian nurses in Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia, Cyprus, Greece, Greenland, Faeroe Islands, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Liechtenstein, and Luxembourg. Malta, Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland and Turkey.

European Regional Conference is being held in Romania, 31 May- 5 June 2010. The theme is “Caring across boundaries: The challenges of nursing in a globalized world”. Pray for the planning committee and for the preparations of each participant.

Pray for God’s provision so that nurses from non-NCF member countries, and especially Romania, will be able to come to the European Regional Conference.

Pray for national NCF conferences that they may be seasons of personal and corporate spiritual renewal and inspiration:Spain: 12-14 March and Scotland 23-25 April.

Verse of the week Galatians 5.16 My counsel is this: Live freely, animated and motivated by God’s spirit. Then you won’t feel the compulsion of selfishness.

Week 5 EUROPE REGION

Pray for Christian minds and hearts for nurses facing disciplinary action as a result of expressions of faith in the workplace.

Pray that you will enable Christian nurses will be God’s Kingdom Salt and Light in their places of influence.

Pray for political leaders as they make decisions that affect the nursing profession. Pray that the decisions may be ones of wisdom that will promote a high quality of nursing care.

Pray for the planning committee of the 2011 International Student Conference on Spiritual Care to be held in the Netherlands.

Verse of the week John: 1.14 The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighbourhood.

Week 6 Pacific and Eastern Asia (PACEA) Region

Thank you for our NCFI International Board members – Chieko Fukushima (Japan), Swee Eng Goh (Singapore) and Dawn Capaque (Philippines) and for their wisdom and strength.

PACEA Regional Conference: Thank the Lord for the organizing committee for this conference – “Pouring new wine into new wineskins”, which will be held in Japan from 27 September to 01 October. Pray for key leaders from each of the 12 countries in the region and those from Japan who will learn from the Leadership Workshop and bring key strategic initiatives of NCFI to their countries.Pray for the main Bible Expositor as he prepares from the Word and for other speakers.Pray for one mind as the group will choose the executive committee who will lead the region from 2010 to 2014.

Japan - had their 25th anniversary conference in September. Thank the Lord for sustaining Chieko Fukushima and her colleagues as they continue to reach out and nurture nurses in several areas of Japan. Thank the Lord for Ryoko Yamaguchi of Japan NCF and who is now working under a Japanese government programme in Indonesia on public health for two years. Ask the Lord to raise up young nurses like her who are committed Christian nurses, passionate about their work, cross culturally exposed and excited about NCF ministry.

Philippines - Pray for Phebe Pendon, Delia Tan, Alice and Rita Paren as they seek to expand NCF, in conjunction with IVCF Philippines.
Indonesia - Thank God that the first Perwakin (Indonesian NCF) Conference was successfully held in Bali during October 2009. A total of 74 participants from 10 provinces in Indonesia plus 5 PACEA. Please pray that the commitment will be blessed by God, so that a Perwakin Branch can be founded. Thank the Lord for leaders, Ramundong and Akemat, that they will be able to balance their responsibilities at home, work and NCF.

Taiwan – Pray for Alice Fang and the new team members in Taiwan. Ask God to help them work well together. Pray for protection on the new nursing journal being published to show people the presence of God and glorify His name. Pray for the project in Pintung Christian Hospital that emphasizes spiritual care during morning rounds. We also remember all those who have been affected by the recent typhoon and floods in the country.

Malaysia – Please pray that we will find Christian nurses in colleges of nursing and hospitals who are willing to be our contact person and develop the fellowship.

Macau – Ask the Lord for strengthening of this young NCF fellowship.

Korea – Give praise for Korea NCF’s strong programme in Mission and Discipleship. Let us join with them to pray and uphold 100 Korean Missionary nurses. Pray for Won Hee Lee (President) and Hye Sook Lee (staff worker) as they lead this group.

Verse of the week Psalm 62: 5 For God alone, my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress, I shall not be shaken.

Week 7 Pacific and Eastern Asia (PACEA) Region

Hong Kong – pray for the new NCF officers. Pray also for Rachel Fu, now working part time as NCF staff.

Australia – pray for Rosemary Bulman, President of NCF Australia (NCFA) and also Fellowships in New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia. Thank God for all the willing supporters in this large country. We also give thanks for the past work of former NCFI staff, Ruth Lichtenberger and Barbara Simsen, who are now living in the State of Victoria.

Fiji – pray for the new officers of Fiji NCF – Slinda Ledua (President) and Ravono (National Secretary). Pray that the Fellowship will grow and that strong Christian nurse leaders will encourage new believers in the work of nursing.

Papua New Guinea – give thanks for the work of Bing Titus and all those in the country, parts of which are still under developed.

Staff Workers - Pray for the staff workers in the PACEA region: Hye Sook Lee (S. Korea), Kim Choo (Singapore), Merrill Tan and Darlene Pendon (Philippines), Chieko Fukushima (Japan), Rachel Fu (Hong Kong).

Verse of the week 1 Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ and each one of you is a part of it.

Week 8 Central Asia and Middle East (CAME) Region

Thank the Lord for Chinnamma Mathew and Mabel Shivkar (India), who together with Stacy Saha (Bangladesh) serve as NCFI International Board members for this region. Pray for wisdom and discernment as they provide leadership for NCFI throughout the CAME region.Pray for all those who are working in healthcare in Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Myanmar. Pray for renewed contact with Christian nurses in Nepal and Sri Lanka and new contacts in other CAME region countries.

CAME Regional Committee / Conference: Pray for leaders from India, (Mabel Shivkar, Chinnamma Mathew), Bangladesh (Stacy Saha), Pakistan (Sarfraz Asif) and Barbara Parfitt, who will meet in Kathmandu in February to develop the regional work and plan the first regional conference for 2011.Pray for good communication and clear guidance as they plan the details of the CAME regional conference- venue, theme, speakers, etc.

Pray for effective strategies for reaching out to nurses in other nearby countries: Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Myanmar. Pray for opportunities to contact and encourage Christian nurses in Nepal and involve them in the regional conference.

India - pray for Chinnamma Mathew and Sheela Walker (National co-coordinators) as they travel frequently, training and encouraging student and staff nurses. Pray for health and safety in their travels. Pray for Leadership training in Kerala, 29-30 January 2010. Pray for the ongoing work of leadership development among nurses across India. Continue to pray for the provision of a general secretary for ENFI.Praise for more religious freedom under the new government. Pray that continuing anti- Christian elements will decrease and gospel work will go ahead smoothly.Pray for the ENFI conference to be held November 2010 in Indore, Maharastra. Pray for those who are planning and organizing the conference as well as those who will speak and attend.

Bangladesh - pray for the new NCF Bangladesh Executive Committee elected at the October 2009 conference: Provati Chambugong, Mebel Mondol, Anne Pottkamp, Jachinta Murmu and Stacy Saha. Pray for commitment and a heart to reach out to nurses in Bangladesh. Pray for their Planning and Prayer day, 26 February, may they have the 'mind of Christ' as they make short and long term plans for NCF in Bangladesh.Pray that Christian Nurses will become rooted and grounded in God's Word.Pray for Barbara Parfitt as she establishes the Grammen Caledonian College of Nursing in Dhaka, where she is Principal and give her strength to cope with this development, as well as all her other commitments, especially those with NCFI.

Pakistan – please pray for all healthcare workers in this troubled country. Pray for those who have recently had homes and possessions destroyed and some even burnt alive, for their faith.Pray for Christian nurses in these areas that they might have courage to care for the suffering.Give thank to the NCF Pakistan committee and all the work which they are undertaking.

Give thanks and praise to all nurses, in other countries, with the region for all the work which they undertake, often in difficult circumstances.

Verse of the week John 1.16 We all live off his generous bounty, gift after gift, after gift.

Week 9 AFRICA REGION

Give thanks for the work of the regional members of the NCFI International Board – Evang Sam Mbok (Nigeria), Martha Mwendafilumba (Zambia) and Bright Addae (Ghana).

Give thanks to Joana Agyeman-Yeboah and the organizing team for the Regional Conference – “Reforming nursing and Midwifery care in Africa for Global Challenges” – which is being held in Ghana from 03 to 09 October. Pray that God shall strengthen, give health and zeal to everyone involved in the organization of the conference.

We praise the interest shown in a number of countries, where a NCF does not exist, and the desire of nurses to consider establishing a NCF in their country. We give thanks to NCF’s in Ghana, Nigeria and Zambia for there support in these developments.

Ghana – thank God for the lives of all Christian Nurses working hard to make Christ Jesus Known in Nursing and in Health Care Delivery in Ghana.Pray for the leadership of NCF Ghana and all who in diverse ways are contributing to the work of NCF.

Pray for Joana Agyeman-Yeboah, the National Vice President, as she acts in the absence of Bright Attah Addae who is undertaking further military training. May Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit strengthen her and the rest of the national and executive. Give strength to Bright Addae as he undertakes is officer cadet training.

Verse of the week Pray for boldness to demonstrate the love of God in all that we do.

Week 10 AFRICA REGION

Nigeria - commit the new leadership of FCN, under Thomas Ibe, into the hands of the Lord as they map out their strategic plan in January 2010. Pray for resources to be able to complete the FCN Secretariat building and execute other projects.Pray for FCN 50th anniversary celebration and Conference that comes up in Benue State in August 2010.

We remember all those Christians who are suffering persecution and even loss of life within various Nigerian States. Dear Lord please help us to live in harmony together!

Pray for groups and individuals that may be willing to come into Nigeria to develop our University manpower in other to provide the needed impact in Nursing Education in Nigeria which is the bedrock for any meaningful and sustainable Christian presence and voicing in the profession.

Thank God for the collaboration that exists between Rebecca Mbok Foundation (RMF) and FCN and other organizations on Home Based Life Saving Skills, which was introduced into Nigeria by the American College of Nurse Midwives through RMF in September 2009.

Cameroon - pray for the NCF Leadership in Cameroon and for God's grace to lead the fellowship to higher heights.

Niger - thank God for the visit of Evang. Sam Mbok, Victoria-Betty Sam Mbok and Peter Maji to in December 2009 to minister at the Conference organized by Yoko and her team. Pray for Sa'a, Nuhu, Musa and a host of others Yoko will be leaving behind in Niger to continue with the work.

Verse of the week Hebrews 12.12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees.

Week 11 AFRICA REGION

Zambia - pray for continual power, anointing and the presence of God in this part of Africa and for Zambia to be a further source of Light in the development and expansion of NCF’s within Africa.

Pray for the National and Regional Executives of NCF Zambia as they devote their time to work for God. Remember Loice Chipere, General Secretary and all her work, especially the publication “Solace”.

We remember the various regional conferences which are due to take place with Zambia, over the next few months and ask for your blessings and guidance upon the organizers and all those taking part.

Sierra Leone - pray for His guidance and success for the group as it thrives through the strong road for NCF work in the country. Pray for Henry as he and his brethren lead NCF Sierra Leone for their programmes and prepare to attend the 8Th NCF Africa Region Conference 2010 in Ghana.

Zimbabwe - thank God again for the contact in this country and the Missionary work and that He will use the nurses on the team to form NCF group in Zimbabwe

Kenya - pray for visionary leaders to move NCF strongly into Kenya’s Health Care delivery system. May He who creates the heavens and the earth touch the heart of all Christians to be interested in NCF work.

Rest of Africa - pray for renewed strength, direction and anointing to move NCF into those Africa countries which have made contact and are interested in setting up NCF groups. We remember those in Gambia, Liberia, Togo and Uganda.

Verse of the week Revelations3:8 I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it.

Week 12 LATIN AMERICA REGION

Thank the Lord for Stella Albarracin, Bertha Antolinez and Alicia Yanez Molina who serve as International Board members. Pray for wisdom and good health for them and their families as they provide leadership for NCFI throughout the Latin American region. Pray for the Regional Conference, which is due to be held in Villarrica, Chile from 14 to 20 November. Give thanks for Alicia and the team as they prepare the programme.

Give thanks for the ongoing work by Grace and Eunice, former International Board members but still very active within the region and also in Argentina and Columbia. Give thanks for the planning which is being carried out for the 2012 NCFI Quadrennial Conference, which scheduled to be held in the region.

ICDMA – we pray for the success of the World Congress to be held in Uruguay in July. We especially pray for the nursing seminar to be held 06-07 July, at which NCFI will be taking part.

Argentina – as according to His word let UCEA Argentina receive joy as they work for NCF.

Chile – pray that ACEMACH Chile shall be multiplied according to His wisdom and grace.

Colombia – pray therefore that the Lord shall encourage new members to join CECEC Colombia and that mighty and strong groups shall carry on the expansion programmes. Pray that the NCFI conference 2012 whose door has been set opened by God shall come to pass successfully.

Ecuador – pray for successful programmes in this country and His glory should abound with them that do His will. May the year 2010 be Ecuador’s success in inaugurating new NCF Groups.

Peru – pray that the Jesus Christ will use the various leaders and members to build NCF in Peru this year 2010.

Costa Rica – pray for nurses in this country who are interested in the establishment of a NCF.
